Depart Nairobi the “place of cool waters” in Maasai language on a flight to Amboseli National Park at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro the tallest mountain on the African continent and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. You will be met at Amboseli airstrip by your guide in open-sided 4x4 safari vehicle. Enjoy a short game drive in the park on the way to Tawi Lodge for refreshments and check in to your cottage. Tawi Lodge is set under the umbrella shade of the enormous Tortilis Acacia trees and offers uninterrupted views of Kilimanjaro and wetlands where animals come to drink and play. It offers a fantastic experience to enjoy your favourite drink while witnessing the life of the big elephants playing in the mud in front of the lodge. Tawi Lodge offers stylish accommodation comprising of luxurious cottages all facing Mount Kilimanjaro. Each cottage has its own wooden-deck veranda and a fabulous view of the highest mountain in Africa even from the comfort of your bed or your bathtub. The lodge is located in a wildlife conservancy on the eastern entrance to Amboseli at an ideal game viewing spot only five minutes from the park's gate. OVERNIGHT AT TAWI LODGE
Today enjoy game drives in this Amboseli which is truly a magnificent park in specially adapted open-sided 4x4 safari vehicle. This custom-built vehicle provides the perfect way to view huge variety of wildlife found in this world famous game reserve. Amboseli comprises of grove of acacia trees and golden savannah plains and its unique location at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro combined with its excellent opportunities to view wide variety of wildlife, makes it one of the most visited game parks in Kenya. Amboseli has endless underground water supply filtered through thousands of feet of volcanic rock from Mount Kilimanjaro’s ice cap which funnel into two clear water springs in the heart of the park. With grasslands crossing Kenya and Tanzania border, this park is renowned and a popular choice to get close to large herds of free-ranging African elephants. There are over 900 elephants in Amboseli as well as huge herds of wildebeests and many other animals including giraffe, lion, monkey, zebra, buffalos, lion, jackals, hyena and all kinds of antelopes. The name "Amboseli" is a Maasai word meaning "salty dust", and the park's Observation Hill provides some of the most magnificent sunsets over Mount Kilimanjaro and beyond.
OVERNIGHT AT TAWI LODGE
Saruni Samburu is set in unspoilt area of Samburu National Reserve in a private wildlife conservancy. OVERNIGHT AT SARUNI SAMBURU LODGE
In company of your Samburu guide, enjoy game drives in expansive Samburu Game Reserve, Buffalo Springs Game Reserve and West Gate Conservancy. This vast area plays host to large herds of elephant. Other unique wildlife specifies are also very common sightings in this part of the wilderness. The area is home to the Samburu tribe the pastoral relatives of the Maasai warriors. The landscape is rugged and dramatic against a backdrop of volcanic mountains. Withered scrub trees punctuate the sparse and dry terrain. Ewaso Nyiro River the lifeline of this area runs along the southern boundary dividing Samburu and Buffalo Springs Reserves. The river is a great point of concentration and interest to both visitors and wildlife. Most animals cannot keep away from it as they come to quench their thirst from the river. In the dry season, elephants use their tusks to dig deep into the dry river beds of the river unearthing precious water. This water creates a green oasis and draws wildlife in great numbers to its banks. Crocodile and hippo share the river with the small herds of elephant which bathe and frolic in the muddy brown waters during the heat of the day before returning later to browse on the lush green vegetation of the riverine forest.
OVERNIGHT AT SARUNI SAMBURU LODGE
After breakfast and with a game drive on the way, you will be transferred back to the airstrip for the scheduled flight to Laikipia. Arrival transfer to Loisaba Lodo Springs which is perched in an escarpment within Loisaba Wildlife Conservancy overlooking the vast Laikipia plains. Loisaba Lodo is a superb luxury retreat offering sweeping views over northern Kenya’s spectacular landscapes stretching out to as far as snow-capped Mount Kenya. The camp comprises of eight luxury tented suites each with its own unique signature setting. The suites are beautifully furnished, spacious and each comes with a dedicated room ambassador to serve and cater for guests' needs and desires. Wildlife viewing from the tented rooms themselves is amazing with herds of giraffe, zebra and elephant moving through the forest below the escarpment. OVERNIGHT AT LOISABA LODO SPRINGS
Explore and discover Loisaba Conservancy today in company of your dedicated safari guide. Loisaba plays a key role in supporting one of Kenya's largest and most stable lion populations. The Conservancy is also home to several critically endangered mammals, including Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, wild dog, leopard and cheetah. Its set within the Laikipia plateau, an area of more than 2 million acres of ranch land and private conservancies stretching from the Great Rift Valley to Mount Kenya in Northern Kenya. The Laikipia plateau is an ancient wildlife corridor and today, the area is filled with cattle ranchers many of whom have torn down their fences to once again let the wild animals to roam freely and migrate. The area consists of a mix of high altitude grassland, dotted with rocky outcrops, low lying bush and patches of riverine forest. Laikipia boasts of the second largest population of elephant in Kenya and Loisaba is an important breeding area and migration route for the Laikipia elephants. The conservancy is a haven for birdwatching with over 260 bird and 50 mammal species that comprise of endangered reticulated giraffes, herds of elephants, Grevy’s zebra, prides of lions, cheetah, the elusive leopard and African wild dogs.
OVERNIGHT AT LOISABA LODO SPRINGS
Depart Loisaba and head to Maasai Mara. Met at the local airstrip and transferred to Karen Blixen Camp in Mara North Conservancy. Karen Blixen Camp is named after the Danish author of Out of Africa. This beautifully sited tented camp is set on the east bank of the meandering Mara River. The camp comprises of large luxury canvas tents, each placed with privacy and undisturbed views along the Mara River. The stylish restaurant, the reception, the lounge and bar are set on a raised wooden deck and furnished with accurate reproductions of Karen Blixen’s private furniture to fit in with the camp’s cozy atmosphere. The Camp’s chic and organic shaped swimming pool is placed in the midst of graceful acacia and olive trees. Game viewing at Karen Blixen Camp is always an outstanding experience. This afternoon, using the camp’s open-sided 4x4 safari vehicle enjoy a game drive in Mara North Conservancy which is a beautiful pristine wilderness area and part of the Maasai Mara ecosystem. Game drives are escorted by highly experienced driver guide who is committed to share his knowledge on animal behavior, landscapes and local Maasai culture. OVERNIGHT AT KAREN BLIXEN CAMP
Whole day game drive in Maasai Mara with picnic lunch. Maasai Mara is the most famous safari destination in Kenya where over 450 species of animals have been recorded. Here you will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephant. Visit Mara River where thousands of wildebeest and zebra are attacked by crocodiles as they attempt to cross this mighty river during the annual "Great Migration" between Tanzania and Kenya. The migration is today one of the natural world’s most astonishing phenomena. Each year nearly two million wildebeest and accompanying large numbers of zebra, and smaller numbers of Grant's gazelle, Thompson's gazelle, eland and impala trek from the Serengeti to the Maasai Mara and back again in search of fresh grazing. Following on their heels are the predators of the savannah, lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures. The migration involves over 1.5 million animals arriving in July and departing in November. Viewing these vast herds on the move is always unforgettable sight. This experience is rated as one of the most spectacular natural events.
OVERNIGHT KAREN BLIXEN CAMP
Early this morning witness spectacular sunrise over the endless rolling plains of the Maasai Mara as you drive from the camp and embark on morning game drive. This will give you the last chance to view lion, cheetah or leopard hunting in the early hours of the morning before daybreak. Mara North Conservancy is home to all the “Big 5" (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino) and supports the highest density of wildlife to be seen anywhere. After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled flight back Nairobi. Met at Wilson Airport and transferred to your Nairobi Hotel or at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for your departure flight.
